It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arie van den Ban, founder of Van den Ban Autobanden. Arie passed away on 2 June 2026 following a short illness.
Entrepreneurship and vision
In 1968, Arie van den Ban laid the foundations in Hellevoetsluis for what would grow into an internationally operating tyre wholesaler and distributor. Through his entrepreneurial spirit, vision and determination, he built Van den Ban Autobanden into a leading player in the tyre industry. Throughout his career, he was a familiar face to many both within and beyond the company, and an inspiring entrepreneur to all who knew him.
Under his leadership, the company grew from a local business into an international organisation serving customers both in the Netherlands and abroad. Much of what Van den Ban Autobanden is today, and the organisation that has since become part of Global Automotive Group, finds its origins in Arie’s vision, decisions and entrepreneurial spirit.

From 9 to 11 June 2026, Van den Ban will be present at The Tire Cologne in Cologne. This international trade fair brings together professionals from the tyre and wheel industry and offers an important opportunity to meet customers and business partners.
During the exhibition, Van den Ban can be found in hall 7, stand C10. Visitors are welcome at the stand, where there is ample opportunity to discuss market developments and explore the product range.
With more than 50 years of experience as a tyre importer and distributor, Van den Ban offers a broad and versatile product range. As a total supplier, Van den Ban serves customers across various segments and European markets.
What can you see at the stand? At the stand, a complete range will be presented, covering different applications:
• Passenger car and van tyres (PCR and LCV) • Truck tyres • Motorcycle tyres • Alloy wheels and related products such as TPMS sensors and spare kits
During the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the range in more detail and discuss the possibilities within the different segments.

Van den Ban and Maxxis at Equip Auto 2025
Van den Ban, the international tyre wholesaler and distributor, will once again be present at Equip Auto in France this year. At the stand, the full-service supplier will showcase its wide range, with special attention to the Maxxis brand and its extensive line of truck tyres.
The Van den Ban assortment includes solutions for passenger cars, SUVs, light commercial vehicles and trucks. In addition, wheels, TPMS sensors and spare kits will also be presented, giving visitors a complete picture of the possibilities offered by the full-service supplier.
Stand information Van den Ban can be found in Hall 3 at stand H079. The sales team will be ready to answer questions in multiple languages and to think along about suitable solutions.
Maxxis expands range with two new tyres
The Maxxis range has been expanded with two innovative tyre profiles that address the latest needs of modern vehicles. The new additions are the Victra Sport EV, especially for electric vehicles, and the RAZR AT-S AT-781, a versatile all-terrain tyre for CUVs and SUVs.
Victra Sport EV: ideal for EVs and hybrids
The Victra Sport EV has been developed for lower rolling resistance, less noise, increased durability and better traction for electric vehicles and (plug-in) hybrids. Thanks to ‘Silent Foam’ technology and a new generation of EV rubber, the tyre offers not only durability but also a pleasant driving experience. The Victra Sport EV is available
RAZR AT-S AT-781: all-terrain specialist
For vehicles such as CUVs and SUVs, the RAZR AT-S AT-781 offers excellent all-terrain and all-weather performance. The tyre excels in tread durability, wet and dry grip and enhanced ride comfort. This all-terrain tyre is available in 13 sizes from 15 to 20 inches.
Winter tyre legislation changed in several countries
From autumn 2024, new rules will apply for winter tyres in France, Germany, Austria, and Sweden. In summary: in these countries, a tyre will only be considered a winter tyre if it has the snowflake symbol. Only having an M+S marking will no longer suffice. This change in legislation applies to both light vehicles, such as passenger cars, and heavy vehicles such as trucks.
Germany and Austria
From October 1st, 2024, winter tyres in Germany and Austria must have the snowflake symbol (Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake – 3PMSF). Until then, tyres produced before 2018 that only have an M+S marking will still meet the winter tyre legislation in these countries.
France
From November 1st to March 31st, requirements apply in 48 departments, in mountainous parts of France. From 1 November 2024, only tyres with the snowflake symbol will be legally considered winter tyres. A tyre with only an M+S marking will no longer be considered a winter tyre.
Sweden
In Sweden, the rules will change on December 1st, 2024. For vehicles up to 3,500 kg, winter tyres must have the snowflake symbol. For trailers up to 3,500 kg, tyres with only an M+S marking will still be recognised as winter tyres until 1 December 2029. For heavy vehicles (> 3,500 kg): from 1 December 2024, winter tyres on the front axle and the driven axle must have the snowflake symbol. For the other axles, only the M+S symbol will suffice. This also applies to the axles of semi-trailers and trailers.

In October, the automotive industry gathers in Paris for Paris Automotive week. The international trade fair EQUIP AUTO is part of this event and will take place from 18 – 22 October.
You will find Van den Ban at EQUIP AUTO, pavilion 2, stand 2.1 B 0.67. Van den Ban at The Tire Cologne 2022
THE TIRE COLOGNE 2022 is the first opportunity for the global tyre industry to come together since the introduction of restrictions as a result of the coronavirus. From 24 to 26 May, the international industry will meet at this leading trade fair.
During the trade fair, the bonds with (inter)national contacts can finally be strengthened and that is exactly what Van den Ban is counting on. The international (native speaking) sales team is ready to welcome its industry contacts with open arms and meet new ones. On an inviting island stand of 189 m2, visitors will find various seating areas that have been specially set up to allow for a personal conversation.
Naturally, the private labels Novex and Goldline, the exclusive brands Hifly and Gripmax and the budget brand Aplus will be represented.
